Post-Operative Instructions

Subgingival Instrumentation Using the Bacterial Reduction Protocol:
After undergoing subgingival instrumentation for a periodontal condition, it is important to monitor the progress of the treatment at the next session and follow these recommendations:
Consume room-temperature food avoid hot, cold, spicy foods, and alcohol

Do not smoke for two days after the procedure

Brushing should begin on the second day, following personalized instructions provided by your dentist

For the first week, use only a soft toothbrush for oral hygiene

Rinse with salt water for one minute, twice a day

Apply hyaluronic acid to the gums twice a day until the follow-up evaluation (e.g., Gengigel)

TO REMEMBER!
Before the anesthesia wears off, take an anti-inflammatory such as Nurofen Forte or Brufen . If pain occurs, take Paracetamol as needed, but no more than four tablets per day (for patients allergic to Paracetamol, it can be substituted with NoSpa)

If dental sensitivity appears, use a specialized toothpaste such as Elmex Professional Sensitive or Sensodyne Fluoride

As the gum heals, more of the tooth surface may become exposed

Avoid eating until the anesthesia has completely worn off

Pediatric Inhalation Sedation Guidelines

Happy Gas – Laughing Gas – Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen, non-toxic, non-allergenic gases, used for conscious sedation, has a sweet smell, reduces anxiety, relaxes, and improves patience and cooperation

No solid or liquid food consumption 1 hour and 30 minutes before inhalation sedation

The patient must not have a cold, and the nose must be fully functional

The patient must not have polyps (depending on diagnosis functional or non-functional nose, partial or total obstruction), acute otitis, or chronic lung diseases (patients with bronchial/allergic asthma under treatment can benefit from inhalation sedation, as it helps calm asthma attacks), pneumothorax (considerations depend on its history and prior medical intervention)

Inhalation sedation or other dental procedures should not be performed on patients with uncontrolled epilepsy (epileptic seizures in the last six months while under treatment)

Within 15-20 minutes after inhalation sedation, the gas is completely eliminated from the body. It DOES NOT metabolize in the organs, meaning the patient is fully conscious immediately after the gas administration stops and can move independently

Only a specialized dentist can recommend sedation treatments, following a prior consultation and anamnesis

Post-Frenectomy Recommendations for Infants

The baby can latch onto the breast immediately after the laser procedure.

Apply Gengigel Baby locally for 5 days, twice a day

Apply Vitamin A oil solution locally for 3 days, twice a day

Follow-up check-up in 14 days

Post-Frenectomy Recommendations for Children Over 3 Years Old

No solid food consumption for 1 hour post-procedure; liquids are allowed, except sweetened liquids

Apply Elugel locally for 5 days, twice a day

Perform post-procedure exercises for 5 days, 15 minutes per day, as recommended by the doctor

Follow-up check-up in 14 days

Post-Operative Instructions After Endodontic Treatment/Retreatment

The effectiveness of an endodontic procedure relies on the technology and materials used, the experience and precision of the dentist, and the patient’s involvement after the treatment. Please take care of the teeth that have undergone endodontic treatment and follow the recommendations below to minimize post-operative discomfort.
Avoid eating until the anesthesia has completely worn off to prevent accidentally biting soft tissues (cheeks, tongue, lips, etc.).

If the tooth has been temporarily filled, do not eat for at least 2 hours after treatment.

Do not chew on the treated tooth until it has been fully restored by the dentist, as there is a risk of fracture.

The treated tooth may be extremely sensitive for several days after the procedure. To reduce discomfort, avoid touching, biting, or chewing on that side. This discomfort may last a few days or even weeks.

Not only the treated tooth but also the area where anesthesia was administered (soft tissues surrounding the tooth) may be sensitive or painful.

Strictly follow the prescribed medication schedule and dosage.

Rinse your mouth 3-4 times a day with warm water mixed with salt (one teaspoon of salt per cup of water).

Please Contact Us Immediately in the Following Situations:
If the prescribed painkillers are not effective in reducing discomfort.

If you feel fine after treatment but experience sudden intense pain and/or soft tissue swelling after 2-3 days (a very rare occurrence).

No waiting period is usually required after completing endodontic treatment to return to your general dentist. After post-operative discomfort subsides (within a maximum of one month after treatment completion), we expect you at the clinic for the tooth restoration procedure, which officially marks the end of the treatment.
Six months after endodontic treatment, please return for a check-up. A clinical and radiological examination is essential to monitor the progress of the case. This will help determine whether the treatment was successful or no.
Although we strive for success in every case, some situations require endodontic retreatment. This evaluation is free of charge it is our way of caring for patients who have placed their trust in our services.
Thank you for choosing Smile Vision!

Rules and Guidelines for Wearing Fixed Dental Braces

Wearing Fixed Braces Will Give You the Smile You've Always Dreamed Of! However, if you want to reach the final result as quickly as possible, it's important to follow our recommendations, maintain proper oral hygiene, and attend regular orthodontic check-ups. Any deviation from these guidelines may extend the duration of your treatment, and we know that's not something you want!
Adjustment Period for Fixed Dental Braces
The first few days after applying fixed braces can be challenging. It is normal to experience a feeling of tension in the teeth, even mild pain. Here are some tips to help ease the transition:
Use protective wax on all areas of the braces that irritate the lips, cheeks, or tongue.

If the pain increases, mild pain relievers such as Nurofen, Algocalmin, or Paracetamol can be taken, but do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

Opt for soft-textured foods to reduce discomfort.

Follow the hygiene instructions carefully and make them part of your routine.

Recommendations for Wearing Fixed Dental Braces
Avoid hard or sticky foods that may damage the braces, such as caramel, nuts, pistachios, pretzels, hard fruits, and Bake Rolls. Ignoring these guidelines may extend treatment duration and increase costs.

Do not bite or tear food with your front teeth instead, cut food into small pieces with a knife and chew using your back teeth.

If your orthodontist has recommended elastics, follow the application instructions and daily wear time strictly. Do not eat while wearing elastics.

Metal ligature ends are usually twisted under the arch if they shift and irritate your cheek, try pushing them back into place with tweezers or a toothpick.

During the initial phase of treatment, flexible and thin wires may shift, causing discomfort. Try moving them back into position, and if that’s not possible, trim them carefully with scissors or nail clippers.

A Bracket Has Come Loose – What Should You Do?
First of all, don’t worry this situation happens frequently. If a bracket comes loose, locate it in front of a mirror most of the time, it remains attached to the archwire, moving between the two neighboring brackets.
If the bracket is secured with a wire ligature, do not attempt to remove it instead, fix it with protective wax.

If the ligature or elastic module has broken, try moving the bracket between two adjacent teeth and removing it. If you can’t do it on the first try, don’t insist apply protective wax instead.

If the last bracket at the back has detached and the end is causing discomfort, and you can’t visit the clinic, trim the end with scissors or nail clippers, right behind the last intact bracket.
Attention!
The protective wax provided at the beginning of treatment is not available in pharmacies or stores. Make sure to check at each appointment that you have enough, and in case of emergency, you can replace it with chewing gum or soft candle wax.
If you have any questions about this topic, don’t hesitate to contact us! We look forward to seeing you every six months for your free periodic check-up!

Rules and Guidelines for Teeth Whitening in the Clinic, Followed by At-Home Whitening

Dental aesthetic procedures are among our favorites because we see patients leaving the clinic with a big, beautiful smile, literally! Teeth whitening, whether performed in the clinic or at home under medical supervision, is carried out only with the highest-quality materials and equipment to ensure safe, effective results that meet high standards.
Teeth Whitening in the Dental Office
If you have chosen professional teeth whitening at our clinic, you should know that the effects of this procedure can last up to six years. However, maintaining the results largely depends on your daily habits. To keep receiving compliments on your bright smile, please follow these recommendations during the first 24–48 hours, when the tooth surface is more absorbent:
Avoid smoking (causes yellowing of the teeth).

Stay away from colored foods and drinks, such as (coffee, tea, red fruits, wine, balsamic vinegar, and tomato juice).

Drink liquids using a straw to minimize contact with your teeth.

At-Home Teeth Whitening
At-home teeth whitening is performed using custom trays, but only after a dental consultation, based on the recommendations and instructions provided by your dentist. The effects of this procedure develop over time, depending on the duration and number of applications. However, this type of whitening is best used to maintain the results of professional whitening done in the clinic.

The home whitening process lasts approximately 8–10 days. During this period, please follow these recommendations:
Brush your teeth both before and after applying the trays.

After use, rinse the trays with cold water and store them in their designated case.

Keep whitening gels refrigerated to maintain their effectiveness.

If you experience tooth sensitivity, take a 1–2 day break from using the trays until symptoms subside.

After completing the 10-day whitening process, wait three months before the next application cycle.

How to Maintain White Teeth After a Whitening Procedure?
Brush your teeth properly twice a day and use dental floss and mouthwash.

Avoid toothbrushes with hard bristles opt for a medium-bristle toothbrush instead.

Refrain from consuming foods rich in coloring agents for seven days after whitening.

Avoid consuming products with extreme temperature differences, as this may cause tooth sensitivity.

Attend routine check-ups and inform your dentist if tooth sensitivity worsens.

We’d love to see your beautiful smile, so don’t forget to schedule your free periodic check-up every six months at Smile Vision!

Recommendations After Tooth Extractions

No matter how much we trive to preserve our patients' teeth, there are cases where tooth extraction remains the only possible solution.
If you have undergone one or more tooth extractions, it is essential to follow the recommendations below for faster and easier healing of the extraction site. The first signs of healing appear after 1–2 weeks, the gums heal within 3–4 weeks and complete bone healing occurs in approximately 6 months.
What to Do to Speed Up Healing and Avoid Post-Extraction Complications?
Do not disturb the extraction site, during the first 24 hours, you may experience discomfort, bleeding, and/or swelling. Constant irritation can worsen symptoms and lead to infection. To control bleeding, gently press a sterile gauze on the area to help form a blood clot. If bleeding persists, contact your dentist immediately.

Avoid smoking, as it interferes with healing and may cause infection. It is recommended to refrain from smoking for at least 48–72 hours after extraction.

Brush your teeth gently maintaining rigorous oral hygiene is essential, but use a soft brushing technique. Avoid direct brushing on the extraction site for 3–4 days to prevent dislodging the blood clot.

Do not use mouthwash in the first 24 hours, as it may disrupt the blood clot. After 24 hours, you can rinse gently with warm salt water or chlorhexidine-based mouthwash (e.g., Parodontax) to remove food debris.

Avoid spitting or drinking through a straw, as these actions increase the risk of bleeding and dislodge the blood clot.

Monitor bleeding it is normal to experience bleeding for 8–12 hours (sometimes up to 24 hours). Your dentist will recommend placing a sterile gauze on the extraction site and changing it every 10–20 minutes until bleeding stops. Apply pressure to the gauze to reduce bleeding and help clot formation. If bleeding continues, moisten a black tea bag, place it on the extraction site, and apply pressure for 30 minutes black tea contains tannic acid, a natural hemostatic agent that helps stop bleeding.

Use only medications prescribed by your dentist, your dentist may recommend pain relievers such as Ketonal, Ketorol, or Nurofen, or antibiotics if necessary, for 2–3 days after extraction.

Monitor swelling if post-extraction swelling occurs, apply ice or a cold towel during the first 24 hours (hold ice for 10 minutes, then pause for 10 minutes, repeating for 1 hour or as needed).

Be mindful of your diet for the first 48 hours, stick to soft foods and drink plenty of fluids. Chew only on the opposite side of the extraction site. Avoid hot or spicy foods and carbonated drinks for 2–3 days.

Limit physical activity intense activities are prohibited for the first 24–48 hours, as they may increase bleeding. Avoid sudden bending and lifting heavy objects for 2–3 days post-extraction.

Consider the effects of anesthesia after anesthesia, your cheeks, tongue, and lips may feel numb. Be careful not to bite your cheek or tongue and avoid chewing in that area to prevent soft tissue injury.

If you follow all these recommendations, the healing process will be much faster, easier, and free of complications. However, you should start discussing with your dentist about the options available for replacing the missing tooth whether it's a fixed prosthetic work, an implant, a partial or total denture. Missing teeth can lead to long-term problems, such as increased tooth mobility, chewing difficulties, and malocclusion.
Tooth loss can only be prevented through regular check-ups and proper oral hygiene. Remember, you benefit from a free periodic check-up every six months at Smile Vision!

Recommendations for Fixed Prosthetic Work on Natural Teeth and/or Implants

Congratulations! You’ve reached the final stage of your treatment, where the permanent prosthetic work will be cemented onto your natural teeth and/or implants.
During the installation session of the final prosthetic work, the cementation will be done using a permanent material, this means that by the end of the session, the cement will already be fully set, and you won’t have to wait 1.5–2 hours, as is the case with temporary prosthetic work.
Recommendations for Enjoying Your Final Prosthetic Work to the Fullest:
You can eat any food, except very hard foods like pistachios, peanuts, etc.

Avoid biting objects, nail-biting, extreme temperature variations (hot/cold), and using prosthetic work to open packages or bottle caps.

Maintain rigorous oral hygiene, just as before: proper brushing, flossing, interdental brushes (if needed), an oral irrigator, and mouthwash.

If you suffer from bruxism, your dentist may recommend wearing a night guard to protect your teeth and prosthetic work.

If you notice any discomfort or irregularities with the fixed prosthetic work, don’t hesitate to contact us!
If everything goes smoothly, we look forward to seeing you for your free periodic check-up every six months!

Recommendations for Mobile and Semi-Mobile Prosthetic Work

In our clinic, we work every day to restore patients' smiles and dental health. Sometimes, the optimal solution for patients is mobile and semi-mobile prosthetic work, which is customized for each individual.
Our specialists provide all necessary instructions and recommendations during the visit to the clinic to ensure that the mobile prosthesis remains in perfect condition for as long as possible.
What Happens in the First Days of Adjustment?
It is recommended to wear the prosthetic work continuously for the first 3–5 days during the adjustment process. Here’s what you might experience during this period:
Speech difficulties, it is advisable to speak as much as possible and read aloud to help retrain your diction.

Excessive salivation, this is normal, and saliva production will regulate itself within a few days.

Unusual sensations in the tongue, your tongue also needs a few days to adjust. Initially, it may occupy any available space, but don’t worry, everything will return to normal after the adjustment period.

Gum pain, if it does not subside within 2–3 days, a visit to the clinic for adjustments is necessary (this is a common situation, so there’s no need to worry).

Cleaning Mobile and Semi-Mobile Prosthetic Work
The prosthetic work should be cleaned outside the oral cavity, use a soft brush with water and soap or non-abrasive toothpaste to clean all surfaces of the prosthesis.
We recommend using a bowl of water or a towel placed in the sink while cleaning the prosthetic work, this precaution ensures that if the prosthesis slips, it won’t get damaged.
Before the actual cleaning, you can soak the prosthetic work in a glass of water with a dissolved effervescent denture-cleaning tablet for 3–5 Minutes. During this time, it is recommended to clean the gums using a gauze pad soaked in mouthwash, salt water, or saline solution.
The use of adhesive pastes should only be done under the direct recommendation of the dentist.
Cleaning Mobile and Semi-Mobile Prosthetic Work
When not wearing fixed prosthetic work (usually during sleep), it should be stored in a glass of water to prevent deformation. The pink material used in its construction is hydrophilic, meaning the denture must always remain in a moist environment.
If you have any other questions about fixed mobile prosthetic work, don’t hesitate to ask your dentist!
We look forward to seeing you at Smile Vision for your free periodic check-ups every six months!

Recommendations for Temporary Prosthetic Work on Natural Teeth and/or Implants

Our patients never leave the clinic with unprotected or uncovered teeth. Thanks to cutting-edge technology and our own digital dental laboratory, we can create temporary prosthetic work for natural teeth and implants in just a few hours.
After cementing the provisional prosthetic work in the clinic, please wait 1.5–2 hours for the temporary cement to fully set. During this time, we recommend:
Avoid eating solid foods, only liquids are allowed

Refrain from forcefully rinsing your mouth with liquids

Do Not disturb the temporary prosthetic work with your tongue or other objects

Throughout the duration of wearing temporary prosthetic work, please follow these guidelines to avoid decementation or fracture:
Avoid hard foods such as peanuts, nuts, etc., as temporary prosthetic work is made from a weaker material, increasing the risk of fracture.

Avoid sticky foods like caramel, chewing gum, etc., since temporary prosthetic work is attached with cement, making decementation or detachment more likely.

During the cleaning process, make sure to remove dental floss laterally, rather than pulling it in the same direction as insertion, to prevent decementation.

Maintain rigorous oral hygiene temporary material is more porous and retains bacterial plaque more easily, so extra brushing effort is necessary.

Keep in mind that for screw-retained crowns on implants, there is a risk of decementation from the prosthetic abutment, similar to natural teeth temporary cementing materials are used. If the temporary prosthetic work becomes decemented or fractured, please keep it and bring it to the clinic for recementation or reattachment.
We recommend maintaining rigorous hygiene of the exposed dental tissues until you reach the clinic. We are ready to assist you as soon as possible with any issues related to your prosthetic work.
Noi te așteptăm la clinică cât mai repede pentru orice problemă apărută cu lucrarea protetică.
And don’t forget, you benefit from a free periodic check-up every six months at Smile Vision!

Recommendations for Removable Dentures

Removable dentures restore the most natural look and functionality of teeth. At Smile Vision, we ensure that each custom-made denture offers excellent aesthetics and long-term durability. However, removable dentures require a more complex adjustment period, as well as rigorous hygiene and cleaning routines. By following our specialists advice, you’ll find that everything will go smoothly, without complications or discomfort.
What do you have to do in the accommodation period?
In the first 24 hours, it is not recommended to remove the dentures. This allows you to identify any minor discomfort and report it to your dentist at the next visit (usually the following day). Here are some noticeable changes you may experience during this period:
Feeling of a "full mouth" and increased salivation these are normal reactions that will subside over time.

Nausea, this can be alleviated by sucking on a menthol candy.

Painful areas in the oral cavity these will gradually disappear as your mouth adjusts to the denture.

Food may seem tasteless in such cases, it is recommended to consume warm foods or drinks with a stronger aroma and flavor (more seasoned).

How Should You Eat with Dentures?
If this is your first time wearing dentures, patience is key it takes time to learn how to eat properly. Your muscles need to be retrained to hold the denture securely, which requires practice and time. You may feel like your tongue doesn’t have enough space, but this sensation will soon pass, and your tongue will find its natural position. It’s important to accept that the process is different—you won’t be able to eat with dentures exactly as you did with natural teeth, but you will adapt.
How to Eat with Dentures
Cut food into small pieces avoid biting directly into foods.

Try to chew on both sides at the same time to distribute pressure evenly.

Do not bite using only the front teeth this can cause the dentures to shift and affect the gums.

Take small bites and chew thoroughly until you get used to the new dentures.

How to Speak with Your New Denture
Practice diction exercises daily read aloud and repeat words that are harder to pronounce.

Clean and massage your gums daily using a soft toothbrush.

Clean dentures with a firmer brush and shampoo or regular soap.

Do not use abrasive toothpaste for denture cleaning.

During cleaning, hold the denture over a bowl of water if it slips, the water will cushion the fall.

What Is Not Recommended to Do?
Do not wear dentures at night unless your dentist specifically advises it.

Do not use adhesive substances (such as Corega, Fixodent) unless recommended by your dentist.

Cover your mouth with a tissue or hand when coughing or sneezing to avoid an embarrassing situation (dentures may become loose).

Do not attempt to adjust or repair dentures yourself.

Visit your dentist if you experience any of the following issues:
Difficulty chewing

Repeated cheek movement

Speech difficulties

Red and inflamed gums

Increased discomfort

Cracks at the corners of the lips
