Orthodontics

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the prevention and treatment of improper tooth positioning by aligning them correctly on the dental arches.

In other words, through orthodontic procedures, crooked or misaligned teeth are placed in their proper position.

From early childhood, regular visits to the dentist are recommended to intercept dental anomalies. Otherwise, once reaching adulthood, orthodontic procedures become more complex and costly.
About

When and why is orthodontics treatment necessary?

A visit to the orthodontist is recommended whenever there are issues with the position of the teeth and jaws. The purpose of orthodontic treatment is to achieve a correct bite, a healthy smile, and to prevent problems and complications that dental anomalies may cause.
There is no age limit for orthodontic treatment. Both children and adults can wear braces. The important thing is to take action as soon as possible to treat orthodontic problems.
Otherwise, various complications may arise, including:
Tooth decay

Gum infections

Tooth loss

Abnormal enamel wear

Speech or chewing problems

What are the stages of orthodontic treatment?

The application of braces involves several steps, which are usually completed in 1-2 sessions. The main stages are:
01
Visit to the orthodontist for evaluation, dental X-rays, diagnosis, and the creation of a personalized treatment plan
02
Placement of braces to begin the correction process
03
Periodic visits for adjustments to the braces and professional dental cleanings
04
Removal of the braces once the treatment is completed
05
Maintaining the results by wearing a retention aligner to prevent the recurrence of treated issues or the appearance of new ones

Customized Orthodontic Procedures

Orthodontic treatment is carried out using various types of dental braces. After a thorough analysis of the type of anomaly, we recommend the appropriate type of braces either fixed or removable to realign the teeth, retrain the muscles, and influence jaw growth.

The duration of orthodontic treatments depends on the severity of the anomaly and the patient's age. Based on these two main criteria, we determine and customize the necessary procedures, as well as the appropriate type of dental braces for the patient.

Starting from our recommendations, we then consider the patient's preferences, allowing them to choose the desired type of orthodontic appliance and its customization.

Types of Dental Braces

At Smile Vision, we offer various types of fixed and removable dental braces. Regardless of the issue you have, we will help you choose the right orthodontic appliance for you.

Removable Orthodontic Appliance

ortodontie aparat mobil
The silicone mobile activator is a modern orthodontic device designed as an alternative to traditional metal braces, similar to next-generation aligners used for tooth alignment and straightening.

It is custom-made based on impressions and measurements taken by the orthodontist and consists of two appliances, one for each dental arch connected in the middle in a correct position that promotes the development of an ideal occlusion.

The silicone mobile activator is recommended as a removable dental appliance for children because:

It promotes harmonious and healthy growth of facial bones and jaws.

It is easy to wear and made from biocompatible material.

The applied forces are biological, triggered by the child's own muscles, significantly superior to mechanical forces (since children's bones respond quickly and easily to orthodontic pressure).

It is based on the concept of myofunctional therapy, considering all functions and surrounding structures of the teeth for proper treatment.

It balances the muscles involved in skeletal development.

It stimulates mandibular growth, enables dental expansion in mixed dentition, and controls 3D malocclusion.

The ideal time for applying this orthodontic appliance is at the beginning of the eruption of the first permanent replacement teeth (lower and upper central incisors). Why so early? Because all orthodontic problems that appear during primary dentition (baby teeth) carry over into permanent dentition. In many cases, they worsen and may require more complex, difficult, and prolonged treatment.

The earlier the intervention, the greater the chances of reducing the severity of the orthodontic issue. This means that worsening malocclusion can be prevented, the duration of treatment can be reduced or even completely eliminated, and the need for fixed orthodontic appliances may be avoided. Additionally, early intervention can lower the likelihood of tooth extractions, orthognathic surgery (surgical procedures involving the jawbones), or other complex treatments.

If you’re looking for an orthodontic solution that doesn’t involve wearing traditional braces and minimally impacts your daily life, transparent aligners might be the ideal choice for you.

At Smile Vision, we use the ClearCorrect by Straumann system. In short, these are transparent aligners made from a multilayer medical-grade polymer, developed after years of research and testing. They work by applying gentle and constant pressure on the teeth, gradually moving them into the desired position.

The treatment plan is designed by an orthodontic specialist, who uses advanced digital technology to create a 3D model of your teeth. Based on your initial diagnosis, you will receive a set of clear aligners that must be worn for at least 22 hours per day and replaced every two weeks or according to your orthodontist’s instructions.

What are the advantages of ClearCorrect by Straumann aligners?

Highly transparent, almost invisible to those around you

More comfortable than traditional braces and even other aligners

Removable, you can take them out when eating or brushing your teeth

Effective, they can be used to treat a variety of orthodontic issues, including crowded teeth, excessive spacing, and improper bite
